Chequered Flag - The 'Hands-On' Team Event
Held indoors and outdoors at venues throughout the UK
Get creating, get communicating and get laughing!
It’s simple! You and your team must plan, design, build and race your own vehicles. Your whole team will find yourselves absorbed in the activity which is hyped up in Formula 1 excitement!
Once the vehicles are built and given the thumbs up by the race regulators, you and your team members will take part in a series of hilarious races designed to thrill!
How does it all work?
Your team will have your own team kit and this will include all the basic tools and materials you will need to design and start building your vehicles. At the end there is the exciting finale where teams have to compete in ludicrously fun and exciting races! Teams will then have the chance to generate “fun money” by pitching for advertising bids as part of your sponsorship campaign, winning competitions for your creative designs and more.

How does it work?
From an initial budget, teams decide how much to spend on creating their own team kit car and which type of parts they want to buy. Decisions must be made as to the method of propulsion, power, wheels, frame and accessories! Each team then builds a human powered vehicle from the parts they have chosen.
However, don’t be too hasty with your cash, money management could still earn you first place. Once you have created your ultimate dream machine, your vehicle must pass it’s MoT before team members compete in various races to test their driving skills!
Wacky Racers is based around construction and simple mechanics. It is an inter team competition comprising design, engineering skill and cutting out coloured paper! Using very simple construction techniques the teams require no automotive or engineering skills.

Package Itinerary
Typical Chequered Flag Team Event:
- 10:00am or 1.30pm: Reception. A briefing on the event will be given.
- 10:10am or 1.40pm: We’re off!! Design and creation begins.
- 12:30pm or 4.00pm: Race Day! Grand Race Finale.
- 1:00pm or 4.30pm: Event concludes. Winner’s presentation!

Race Day!
Once your crazy creation has been built and customised to your liking, its time to test your vehicle where it really matters – in the Wacky Racer Team Trials! Your team will compete against the other vehicles in a series of four craftily wrought tests, each involving a different set of skills:
Traffic Light Burn Off
Raw power and speed will win the day here!
Parallel Park
Not the most popular of manoeuvres!
Hill Climb
Not Mount Everest but no bump in the road either!
Speed Slalom
A true test of manoeuvrability and steering!
Cash will be awarded to the winners and runners up in each of these trials, prizes will also be awarded for the most aesthetically pleasing of the vehicles – personalised plates and go faster stripes earn extra rewards! At the end of the building and racing, the team with the biggest pot of cash are the winners!

Submitted by Clare Hughes Thank you very much for helping us to deliver a hugely successful event. The team are still buzzing with stories, smiles and laughter which is great. I have also noticed colleagues who do not usually talk to some of the team and those who keep their heads down get up and make an effort to talk to others. I had a comment today from a team member say that they were surprised at the level of organisation at the event so kudos!
