Team Tactics Wine Challenge is a friendly, entertaining and enjoyable wine tasting event that can be organised for almost any kind of corporate event, whose audience has an interest in wines.
This event can be tailored to most participants – whether the party be senior personnel wishing to learn more about certain wines, or on a more relaxed basis, where laughter, light banter is more the order of the day.
Every effort is made to assist those teams who may be inexperienced in matters vinous and the great wine world! This will ensure a level playing field for all contenders and teams.
Each team will be provided with a tasting sheet in the form of a multiple choice questionnaire. After a brief introduction by the Team Tactics wine host for the evening, players will start tasting, ‘huddling’ and filling out their answers. As each wine is being tasted, the elect ‘Team Speaker’ will be allowed to ask some questions. Teams that are struggling will be given extra help and hints whereas teams doing rather too well will be served curved balls!
The Challenge Host has the absolute and final word!!
Points are allocated for correct answers and other points may be allocated (or deducted) if our host feels it is appropriate!
Eight wines are usually tasted, white and red. An excellent cost effective form of evening entertainment.

What happens next?
As guests arrive, champagne is served to welcome everybody. We do like to recommend some nibbles at this stage as guests may not have eaten for a while. Our exceptional sommerlier, who has been with us for 12 years will welcome everybody to the evening and instantly put guests at ease. Superb drinks prizes are given to the winning and runners up team. Team Tactics Wine Challenge is both fun and participative. This has proved to be a popular event to add to an evening to make something more than ‘just another dinner’.
The wines…
A selection of 4 red and 4 white wines are tasted and each team will answer the multiple choice questions – sometimes a little help is given, sometimes some curved balls are thrown to maintain the competitiveness and enthusiam for the evening. We are very different in that we like people to stand and ‘huddle’ around small poseur tables, which provides a more relaxed and cohesive setting.
Throughout the evening guests revel in light banter and have thoroughly enjoyed sampling all the wines and learning something about wine as they have gone along.
Option 2 – Food and Wine Matching
There are a surprisingly small number of principles which govern whether any particular wine and food pairing will work well or be an absolute disaster. During our short two hour interactive tasting, participants can learn these rules (and remember them for life!)
Format
Following a champagne and canapé reception, the guests are divided into small groups of two or three. As the first wine is served, they are then let loose on the canapés and it’s their job to assess the way the wine matches with the different food types. The guest each have a food and wine matching chart which will help to guide them in assessing the worthiness of each match.
Throughout the evening, we look at five different wines and five different foods. Our host (Ewan) makes the evening flow at a great pace, and elucidates on why certain pairings work and others don’t. He also hands out prizes on the spot for witty and amusing comments. Altogether making food and wine matching seem simple.
