Last Thursday Elena and I enjoyed looking after a corporate group who were so lovely and laid back it was a pleasure to spend the day with them!
This enquiry resulted from a referral from another division of the same company who had enjoyed a weekend over in Monacco with Team Tactics. The initial brief was for approx. 50 guests, half clients, half staff to primarily act as a thank-you for the business. The first part needed to incorporate a presentation and the rest of the day was enjoyment and fun. At this stage this also encompassed possibly evening ideas. However, after suggesting a number of alternative client events, they hit on the day as outlined below.
The day commenced at the 5 Star Marriott County Hall hotel with a company presentation. Following a few hours of company presentations, the group were escorted to the London Eye where they enjoyed a champagne reception in 3 private pods during the half hour flight. With the sun shining the views were spectacular from the pods although I must say that I personally think dusk is the most stunning time to take a flight!
Following the ‘flight’ over London’s capital, the clients returned to the hotel for a sumptuous buffet lunch. Time for the start of the slow down and chill out which everybody was looking forward to! After lunch, guests were led down the banks enjoying the various street performers, across the Golden Jubilee Footbridge to the Tattersall’s Castle pub which is a super find and well worth visiting. The ex paddle steamer has an open top deck with lots of tables which on a sunny day was absolutely heaving with clientele. Downstairs has another bar area and private function room with a nightclub right at the bottom open till the early hours. (The highlight for Elena however was the very dishy bar staff!!)
Guests had a quick pint, a bit of Dutch courage for a couple! – before walking the short distance to Embankment Pier where we had 3 RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) awaiting them! These boats, with black leather and chrome, look as if they have just left a Bond movie set and with a guide and stereo with music to keep guests entertained, are great for a high octane activity. This is our Thames Rib Experience and is a must for anyone!
After a quick briefing and life jackets on, waterproofs are also provided if you want them, the groups set off for a 2 hour blast on the Thames. I always say that I defy anyone not to come off the activity with a smile on their face and I was fully justified as both the ladies and the gents all said what an absolutely exhilarating time they had experienced – Thames Power Blast!!
The final furlong was taking guests back across the bridge to Las Iguanas at the Royal Festival Hall, where food platters and cocktails completed the event. All of the guests I spoke to had really enjoyed their day, hi to the Northern Contingent! and I look forward to working with Gordon and his guests in the near future.
My thanks to Pedro and his team at the Marriott County Hall and Charlotte and crew on the RIBS.
