After months of preparation, my client’s 21st Company celebration was held last Saturday 10th October. A lovely sunny day at Marriotts Hanbury Manor really enhanced the beauty of the hotel and really started the event off well.
Guests arrived and after registration had a wander around the hotel grounds before their buffet lunch which was served in the wonderful Poles Hall. A truly superb room which was originally the chapel and has retained a lot of wonderful features.
Fed and watered, the staff took part in our Beat the clock activity whilst partners enjoyed the delights that the Spa has to offer.
Beat the clock is a super event to get everyone working together and having fun at the same time. As the title suggests, guests have 1.5 hours to complete as many tasks out of the 110 on offer, and the winning team obtain the highest points. Creating a strategy to start with as to which tasks pull on the teams strengths as well as earning them the most points is key to their success and then in a whirlwind fashion they complete as many as they can in the time allowed.
Tasks from finding logos, plate spinning, modelling balloons, blind fold typing and mind stretching mini challenges are available and scoring marshalls are on hand to ensure the tasks are done correctly! Of course with only 2 marshalls teams have to ensure they don’t waste time!
I must say that the teams immediately got into the event and were so focused that the time flew by and after a lot of laughs and a little stress, they all agreed that the activity had been really challenging and great fun.
A gala dinner was planned in the evening and the room had been decorated with balloons, hats, streamer poppers etc to really give it that birthday atmosphere. After a lovely 3 course dinner and the cutting of the cake with group photo, DJ Ray Charles pumped out the tunes and all danced away until midnight and continued the party in the hotel bar!
The hotel staff were fantastic and I must say that if you check out the Hanbury Manor on the website, it really does not do justice to the actual hotel at all and I have told our rep and the hotel this!! My client was such a lovely group and it was a real pleasure to be in their company for the weekend. The good news is that they have already asked us to come up with something special for next summer so I look forward to working with them again soon!
“Hi Hellen and Tina,
Just a little note to thank you for all the effort that went in to our event last Saturday – I have heard only praise for the whole event, particularly from our directors.
The Team Building exercise was great fun, very challenging and well run. The venue was delightful, the staff at the hotel were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and the ‘little extras’ made the event one that will, no doubt, be talked about for years to come.
Thank you especially to Hellen, who had a fantastic understanding of how we envisaged the event to run, and ensured that it did, and also that if it didn’t, any matters were immediately and appropriately resolved.
So thank you to you all.
So, looking ahead, there are a few of our staff who really want to do a ‘build-a-raft-from-egg-boxes-and-string-and-race-across-the-lake’ type event, or maybe a sailing weekend, definitely something in the summer.
Please would you let me know whether you can put this type of event together and if so, what sort of budget we would need.
