A Right Royal Do!

Last Wednesday we ran one of our Buckingham Palace events for a long term client who has high expectations on everything they do! Of course, we did not disappoint and really pulled the stops out by commencing their event with Afternoon Tea in the private Music Room at The Ritz Hotel. As I was standing in the main foyer greeting guests, listening to the pianist and watching the many groups arriving for afternoon tea in the main hall, I had the feeling that I was actually in a period movie waiting for the next scene! The timeless elegance of The Ritz cannot be re-created anywhere and the many staff in their full regalia provide a truly slick service with nothing too much trouble.

Guests arrived to a champagne reception in the Marie-Antoinette room and then transferred to the beautiful Music Room at 14:20. The harpist we had playing really set the scene as they walked in and after a brief speech by the CEO, the superb Ritz Afternoon Tea was served on silver platters and looked absolutely wonderful.

At 16:00 my coaches arrived to take the guests the short ride to Buckingham Palace where the private tour with historical Palace guide commenced at 17:00. It truly is a privilege to walk around the Palace State Rooms and stand where countless Royals and Heads of State have been throughout the hundreds of years. The 1.5 hour tour ends with a glass of champagne on the West Terrace and although the weather was wet and windy, it certainly did not dampen my guest’s spirits who appeared thrilled with their day.

We do offer an evening option at Mosimann’s private members club however if your timings need to be in office hours, afternoon tea at The Ritz truly cannot be beaten. Obviously a dress code applies for both The Ritz and The Palace and we can organise all transfers required during the day.

Thank you to the Event staff at The Ritz and the historian at The Palace who answered all my guest’s questions and was extremely knowledgeable.

Lovely stuff! I went to the UK this summer and had my first ever afternoon tea with scones , and it was absolutely delicious I thought I’d try and make my own last weekend. I might have deviated from the norm though – I found a site full of random scone recipes here and made 3 different kinds! My friends were so happy when I brought them round for tea and scones. Great fun!
