What is Cowes Week?
Cowes Week is the largest sailing Regatta of its kind in the world. It is held in the Solent waterway between the Isle of White and the UK mainland with the competition based and organised from the Isle of White town of Cowes. Competition involves various classes of cruiser racers, one-designs and keel boats. Typically there are over 8,500 competitors and 1000 boats taking part. The high volume of boats with their coloured sails produces a colourful effect across the waterway. Cowes week is held at the beginning of August and this year takes place between Saturday 3rd and Saturday 10th August.
