Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy the good weather while it lasts. If you are planning an outdoor team building activity, such as ‘It’s a Knockout’, you could easily combine it with a BBQ. Maybe you’re looking for a cooking event but don’t want to be cooped up inside, we have the solution with our Summer Paella Party. If you’d rather not cook, the venues below do suberb food along with having with outdoor spaces that are ideal for your staff summer party.
De Vere Devonport House, Greenwich
Devonport House’s gardens are huge. We consistently work with this venue to deliver large outdoor events, such as ‘It’s a Knockout’ and ‘Crystal Challenge’ (sometimes with our own Richard O’Brien lookalike!). The BBQ package that the venue offers is amazing, if it is raining then you will be pleased to hear that fresh seasonal food is always on the menu. Devonport House is next door to the old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, which was famously designed by Christopher Wren (architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral). This is also one of the finest hotels in the area – why not combine your summer party with an overnight stay?
Big Chill House, King’s Cross
This venue would be suitable for a large outdoor cooking event and / or a small indoor activity. This venue’s proximity to Kings Cross and St. Pancras make it an ideal location for team members who have to travel a long way to join your summer party. Its large terrace has an intimate feel to it and is absolutely perfect for our Summer Paella Party. If you don’t want to do corporate cooking with us, they offer an interesting summer BBQ menu with some excellent fish options.
Skylight at Tobacco Dock, Wapping
Located close to the picturesque St. Katherine’s Dock, Skylight is the latest edition to the rapidly upcoming Tobacco Dock. The space here is big enough for practically all the events that we offer and it comes with the added benefit of an impressive view of the city’s skyline. Whether you choose to bring your own caterers, or use their delicious in-house street-food vendors, you will struggle to find a better place for a large group to enjoy a view with their meal.
The Clubhouse, Bank
The Clubhouse offer some of the more exclusive venues, they now have 4 sights scattered across London: Bank, Holborn, Mayfair and St. James’s. While they all provide meeting rooms with an opulence scarce matched in our capital, it is their site near Bank that is of particular interest to us. This site of theirs enjoys a terrace on the 7th floor, a rarity in the heart of the City. This central location would be ideal for hosting your conference before you retire to the terrace, perhaps for an outdoor corporate cooking session. They also have a small deli providing a selection of seasonal salads, sandwiches and snacks to keep you going.
Hampton Court Palace, Molesey
It’s not often you get to use a Palace as your plaything. Hampton Court Palace work very closely with their exquisite in-house caterers to provide some of the best event catering available. Their indoor spaces are sublime (what would you expect from Henry VIII’s favourite haunt?), their garden spaces are some of the most immaculate in all of London and is only half an hour on the train from Clapham Junction.
Honourable Artillery Company, Old Street
The HAC find themselves in the very enviable position of having nearly 6 acres of prime lawn right next to the City. They are happy to share, and this venue has more than enough space for any outdoor activity you can conceive of. Here the Head Chef and his team are passionate about food and believe in using only the finest, seasonal produce, beautifully prepared and presented. They have a variety of menus for you to choose between and are happy to do a custom menu if you prefer, this includes BBQs. If you don’t like the look of the weather, you can hire their inside space as well and experience hospitality fit for a General – it is a working barracks after all!
Tower of London, Tower Hill
You may have already been aware that the Castle is available for hire, but were you aware the moat is too? Any of our events can be placed in the moat (don’t worry, it was drained long ago). Each year there is a ball in the moat (as any Londoner will tell you), we help organise this and have a lot of experience working closely with this historic venue. The catering for the event is superb, however, if you can’t make it to the ball, the Tower has 4 eateries on site which offer fine fair; these vary from light bites to full sit-down meals. Its location between the City and Tower Bridge make it very easy to get to and it enjoys excellent transport links should you find it inadvisable to drive home!
The Kia Oval, Lambeth
Not just for Cricket-lovers, the Oval has a selection of spaces. These vary from good sized rooms, high-up terraced bars and even include the famous cricket field itself! All our events can be put on here …cricket fixtures permitting! Of course, we do provide sporting hospitality and can accommodate groups of any size. So, if you want to get active with your team on the pitch, or simply kick-back and relax on a 5th floor garden bar (a beautiful space for a buffet), we can help.
Syon Park, Richmond
Although this venue is the furthest out from central London on this list. It has two important features: 1. It has beautiful spaces both indoors and out and is suitable for all activities. 2. This is the latest opening corporate event venue in London that we know of. The gardens here must be seen to be believed and were designed by Capability Brown. This house has been known for its parties since King James I was entertained there in 1603. Quality has been maintained, their approved list of caterers is a broad church ranging from Indian to very local, but they are all good – they have to be as reputation and mutual trust is key for such a historic venue.
London Zoo, Regent’s Park
Located in Regent’s park, this venue is both easy to get to and in beautiful surroundings. All three of their spaces are equally good. The Huxley and Bartlett suit offers a theatre layout; the Mappin Pavilion is in their Australian outback; and the Prince Albert Suite offers views over the Penguin Beach! The Zoo is ideal for our outdoor culinary events, however, if you would prefer to let someone else make dinner then you will be delighted to hear that their in-house caterers are Ampersands who are known for their trend-setting combinations. All events come with complimentary access to the zoo, so why not bring out the wild side of your group?!
