Friday 7th – Sunday 9th September
They say the heyday of the Goodwood circuit was between 1948 and 1966, however, the revival is more than simply an echo of the past. It has grown over its 20 year history into a renowned event in its own right. Its size is unique in the historic race meet circuit and it in fact has grown to become one of the world’s best attended race meet of any type. Below is a little of what to expect:
A step back in time…
Not only is it well attended, but every effort is made to make this event period appropiate. No modern are vehicles allowed within the racing ring (except emergency vehicles), and guests are expected to wear period clothing (40’s, 50’s and early 60’s). Goodwood Revival has also teamed up with top modern brands to present the ‘Revival High Street’ – a classic looking high street. If you fancy some retro amusements, go ‘Over the Road’ and you will find roller-disco, Revival Cinema, a fairground, and one of the country’s most famous car auctions along with what is simply the largest classic car park. This year there will also be a larger aviation collection than usual to celebrate the centenary of the RAF.
Festive Friday – 1 Race
While Friday may only have one race, it is a good opener. The Kinrara Trophy is an hour-long race with a stunning collection of closed-cockpit cars. You’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful grid line-up anywhere.
Speedy Saturday – 6 Races
Today has a real mixed bag of race types. Whatever you’re after, chances are they’ll have it. From classic motorcycles to classic production cars (the sort of vehicles that members originally raced here), all the way through to classic racing cars, today is the day to be spoiled for choice.
Splendid Sunday – 7 Races
This day boasts the final races, including ‘Part 2’ of some of Saturday’s racing. This is the grand finale.
