It may not always seem obvious or some people may not think it is important, but self-care is important for your mind, body and soul. It is so important for your overall health. Without self-care, your relationships with others can suffer tremendously. It is important for your family and friends, it allows them to learn from you, you can set boundaries it also shows that by looking after yourself they need to look after themselves. Take time for yourself!
How I Can I Look After Myself
There are many ways that you can look after yourself especially during lockdown. Be sure to talk about your feelings this could be done by writing your feelings down or talking to your friend and family. Life before COVId-19 was busy and eventful. A lot of us had little time to catch up with long-lost friends. Set time aside in the week to be able to talk and catch up with all your favourite people. You could even use the time to catch up with friends you have lost touch with.
Practise Your Self-Care Routine
Take the time and follow your steps and go through your morning self-care routine and your bedtime routine. Use the face masks that you have in your cupboards make time for yourself and read your book before bed. They say no TV for two hours before bed works wonders for your nighttime sleep. We all function a lot better on the right amount of sleep so do not miss any hours by going to bed too late.
Do More Of What You Love
When you are not feeling your best, it can be hard to find the motivation and positivity you need to complete tasks. This is the perfect time to reconnect with the things you love the most then keep doing these things. As these things make you happy you will find your self becoming motivated and lifted. Do not feel bad if what you love doing is different to your friends and family always remember we are all different and we do not always like or love the same things as our family and friends. Remember, that it is okay.
Don’t Feel Bad Making Time For Yourself
When it comes to practicing and taking time for yourself, you can sometimes find yourself feeling bad. Not because what you are doing is wrong but because amongst our busy lives, we sometimes forget about ourselves so when we do make time, we feel bad because it does not feel normal. Remember that you are not just serving yourself when you set apart time to recharge, but also everyone around you. By taking care of yourself first, you will have more energy and attention for the people you love.
