F1 at Silverstone – a British institution
Having started as a WW2 airfield, Silverstone first staged the British Grand Prix in 1948 and the Grand Prix was the first race in the Formula One World Championship, held in 1950. After a troubled 2009 in which Silverstone looked set to lose staging the British Grand Prix to Donnington Park, a 17 year deal was signed which will see the British Grand Prix staged at Silverstone every year. As part of the deal Silverstone started a multi-million pound investment into the circuit, developing a new pit and paddock facility which included conference and hospitality areas too. Now on Stowe corner, hospitality guests at the British Grand Prix will witness the cars exit the corner at speeds close to 125mph!
Goodwood Festival of Speed
