The challenge
With colleagues working remotely, dispersed across different locations, and often split across brands, hospitals and generics, teams can easily become siloed. For this reason, the management team sees great importance and value in bringing the company together in person and holds a summer event and Christmas party each year.
Mark Ireland, UK country manager at Consilient Health, explains, “These meetings provide valuable opportunities for employees to socialise with colleagues they don’t see in-person for the rest of the year, encouraging discussion and creating stronger bonds for cross-functional work.”
This year, Consilient Health wanted to bring the workforce together to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary with a two-day event. They wanted to do something special to mark the occasion, reinvigorate team relationships and strengthen organisational identity.
The solution
Laura King, office manager and PA to the board at Consilient Health, first contacted Team Tactics after reading about our One Voice activity, a singing workshop that brings teams together through a powerful shared performance.
She spoke with Team Tactics events specialist, Charlotte, about their plans for the two-day conference at Burnham Beeches Hotel in Buckinghamshire and explained they were looking to add something lively and physical to the first day to help colleagues reconnect and energise the group before the evening celebrations.
Knowing it would be an ideal match, Charlotte recommended ‘It’s a Knockout’ and arranged a call with Laura and Mark to explore their objectives in more detail and discuss how both activities could work together on the day. Confident the combination would be a good fit, Laura and Mark decided to go ahead.
It's a Knockout
After a morning meeting and lunch on day one, the team at Consilient Health got warmed up for their first activity. Based on the classic BBC show, ‘It’s a Knockout’ includes a series of six challenges, using colourful inflatables, costumes, props, water and plenty of bubbles!
As it’s almost as fun to watch as it is to take part in, Charlotte suggested the teams visit each of the stations together, with three teams taking part in the activity, while the other six watch on. With each round lasting a few minutes, the game is fast-paced, dynamic and entertaining enough to make a great spectator sport.
Mark commented: “The spectator element was great – teams could watch others attempting the activities so they could learn, strategise, discuss tactics, and get involved. Team Tactics were consistent at calling out cheating, which created a really fun and competitive atmosphere.”
After all the teams had completed all six stations, the winning team was awarded medals and a bottle of bubbly, before they went on to party the night away with drinks, a BBQ and a DJ.
One Voice
The employees rose the next morning with sore heads and first up on the agenda after breakfast was ‘One Voice’, an activity loosely based on Gareth Malone’s ‘Last Choir Standing’ TV show.
The team warmed up with vocal coach, Daniel (a backing vocalist to the likes of Mariah Carey, Elton John and Luther Vandross, as well as an artist in his own right) before splitting into different groups.
Daniel taught the groups ‘Proud’ by Heather Small and ‘Celebration’ by Kool and The Gang, running through the basics before adding some harmonies for an impressive edge. Then, all teams came together to perform their parts for the grand finale, a spine-tingling and uplifting conclusion to the activity.
The sun shone brightly that morning, and the company enjoyed ‘One Voice’ in the hotel’s beautiful gardens, providing a great energiser and hangover cure (or distraction!) for the team. While some were initially sceptical about the singing activity after a late night, everyone quickly got stuck in and enjoyed the experience.
Mark said, “One Voice was so different to anything we’ve done before and really pushed people out of their comfort zone. Morale was high throughout and it the activity was a revelation – everyone really enjoyed it!”
The result
The feedback from the conference was incredibly positive, with delegates praising both activities and the energy Team Tactics brought to the two days.
Mark noted, “The team running ‘It’s a Knockout’ was great fun and kept everyone going and engaged. We loved how fun and interactive it was, and the impact it had on team morale, and we want to do something similar at next year’s event.”
Consilient Health employees were particularly impressed with Daniel, vocal coach for ‘One Voice’, describing him as, ‘outstanding on a hungover Friday morning!’ and noting how he managed to turn nerves into smiles and scepticism into real enjoyment.
Mark commented, “We witnessed excellent communication and collaboration between colleagues throughout the two events, helped by Team Tactics. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activites and got out as much as they put in.”
Feedback from across the organisation suggested the experiences had a powerful effect and strengthened relationships across the team, while several long-standing employees said it was the best company event they had ever attended.
With such positive results, Team Tactics supported Consilient Health’s 20th anniversary Christmas event in 2025 and their summer 2026 celebration as well.
