The team at Team Tactics are incredibly proud and excited to announce the launch of a brand-new team building event entirely dedicated to sustainability – our very own ‘Watts Sustainable’.

The first of a kind event, where team building meets environmental impact, sees teams compete against the clock and head-to-head against other teams to be crowned the best ‘Eco Warriors’ in the business. They must navigate their way through an interactive game map through Sustainability, Biodiversity, Energy, Hope, ‘Our World’, Recycling and AI zones, answering questions and taking on a series of sustainably manufactured challenges.

Contestants work with reused and recycled items, and well as responsibly sourced materials such as FSC-certified wood and sugar cane plastic from renewable plant-based materials.

Activities include:

  • Old is Gold: Teams explore historical artifacts and guess their purpose – a fun and thought-provoking activity that reinforces the importance of preserving and repurposing items, while promoting sustainability through heritage conservation.
  • Shape the Future: Teams use sustainable materials to create shapes, promoting eco-friendly practices in design and construction. All materials are responsibly sourced to minimise environmental impact, while encouraging teams to consider the importance of responsible sourcing and its role in promoting environmental sustainability.
  • Race Across the World: A light physical challenge highlighting global connectivity and the need for sustainable transportation methods.
  • Clean the Ocean: A metaphorical ocean clean-up activity using eco-friendly materials, including bamboo poles, hemp string, and eco-leather, promoting ocean conservation and sustainability. The activity raises awareness of the devastating impact that plastic and other pollution can have on marine life and ecosystems, while the inclusion of responsibly sourced materials reminds participants of the importance of selecting environmentally friendly options in everyday activities.
  • Watt Power: Teams learn about energy efficiency by identifying wattage levels of household appliances, gaining insight into the environmental impact of different products and the importance of choosing energy-efficient options.
  • Scrabble for the Word: Teams must solve sustainability-related riddles, promoting awareness and understanding of environmental concepts.

Watts Sustainable is first and foremost a fun and engaging activity, while also highlighting important environmental issues. The activities require teamwork, good communication, problem solving, dexterity and creativity, and teams must maximise their overall effectiveness and productivity by strategically utilising the diverse skills and talents of its members.

The subject matter and nature of the challenges are also key drivers for forward-thinking organisations. Research shows that sustainability is advancing on business agendas as an important consideration to engage, attract and retain employees, especially those of younger generations. In fact, 69% of consumers say they want to see their employers investing in sustainability efforts, and this figure is higher among employees surveyed between the ages of 18 and 34. The data also shows that the employers ’getting it right’ in the eyes of Gen Z employees typically benefit from increased morale, wellbeing, recruitment and retention.

Research from Culture Amp also shows that companies in which employees feel a genuine commitment to sustainability can experience a 16% higher engagement rate.

Tina Benson, founder at MD at Team Tactics, commented: “Employers have an opportunity to strengthen teams and morale by engaging workers on climate and sustainability issues and demonstrating alignment with their core values.

“As the first of its kind, Watts Sustainable is a fun and competitive team building activity that raises awareness around environmental issues and the impact our everyday behaviours and decisions can have on the planet. It was important to us that all materials were sourced responsibly to uphold the integrity of the game and appeal to the environmentally conscious businesses looking to take their team building in a new direction.”

Watts Sustainable is suitable for groups of anywhere between 20 and 200 people and can be hosted anywhere across the UK. Get in touch to speak with a member of our award-winning corporate event specialists or to get a quote for your organisation’s next team building activity.
