Day 1
Arrival in Champagne area of France. Check into chosen hotel.
Fabulous cellar tour of Ruinart followed by 5 course dinner. Both fun and appealing, the Ruinart champagne tour unveils the secrets of a great Champagne Brand. A tour of the Ruinart cellars takes you through the main stages in the production of champagne.
Ruinart
The House of Ruinart was established in the 18th Century in a series of Gallo-Roman chalk pits situated beneath the “Butte St Nicaise” as the conditions proved to be ideal to age the champagne wines. The Ruinart cellars are so spectacular as an impressive staircase leads the way into a spectacular network of cellars more than 30 metres below ground. These cellars include chalk pits listed as historic monuments. The Ruinart cellars are often compared to underground cathedrals just lit by a pale shaft of light where a constant and natural temperature of 11°C/50°F prevails.
The Art of Entertaining is closely linked with the Art of Champagne. The facilities and premises of the House of Ruinart will be at your disposal for the evening. The dinner will be served in the dining room of Ruinart and will be a five course feast with various Ruinart champagnes to drink throughout dinner.
Day 2
Having experienced the previous day at one of the oldest champagne houses, we feel guests would welcome some fresh air to see the vineyards and have an opportunity to meet a smaller champagne house and experience their hospitality, enthusiasm and knowledge. They will offer you a different insight into the world of Champagne. A vision which begins with the soil, then the vines that they know better than anyone, right up to the creation of their wines into which they pour all their personality and knowledge.

- To put the icing of the cake, we complete this experience with Fine dining in Mumm’s own windmill set in the heart of the Mumm estate, overlooking the truly spectacular champagne vineyards

Launois Pere&Fils
In the morning, we depart to a small village called Le Mesnil sur Oger on the Cotes des Blancs a few miles south of Epernay. This is one of the largest and most important growers on the Cote des Blancs. Bernard Launois is an entrepreneur who, not only sells grapes to such leading merchant Houses as Veuve Clicquot, but also makes his own champagne.
Here, Bernard Launois has assembled a magnificent collection of wine antiques and champagne memorabilita for his museum.
We will visit the vineyards and meet Bernard Launois, He will tell the story of Champagne from the day they were built to the present, and one learns just how much these companies have contributed over the years to the exceptional quality of these wines, as well as their worldwide presence. This VIP trip will explain in detail, by the growers themselves, how their wines are made, and after such a visit, will understand better what distinguishes one style from another, even if the secrets are still kept by the owners and cellar-masters.
After this time, we come to the house for some superb champagne tasting and have a short museum tour.
Lunch
For lunch we will take you to somewhere spectacular to complete a splendid trip to Champagne – The Verzenay Mill.

Brilliantly organised and professional.... fantastic food in outstanding surroundings... Our best ever Christmas function.... even if it was a bit late! The Windmill lunch was the pinnacle of a truly fabulous weekend. We all had a great time and enjoyed the informative stuff around Champagne and its history which wasn’t too heavy for us. It was also fascinating that even the blokes gave up beer for the weekend such was their enjoyment of the different Champagnes that we sampled. |
